Yuan An Lu Yuan tea is a type of yellow tea, named after the Luyuan Temple area in Yuan'an County, Hubei Province, China. The area has a superior natural environment, with tea gardens mostly distributed at the foot and waist of the mountains. The climate is mild, rainfall is abundant, and the soil is fertile and loose, providing unique conditions for the growth of tea bushes. Yuan'an Lu Yuan tea has a unique style of its own. It is goldenyellow in colour, with visible white hairs, long and slender, and has a persistent aroma and a mellow, thick, and cool taste. The colour of the tea broth is bright apricot yellow, and the infused leaf is a bright yellow colour and well-proportioned. These characteristics make Yuan'an Lu Yuan tea unique among yellow teas and very popular with tea drinkers.

Yuan An Lu Yuan Picking and Production:

The picking time of Yuan an Luyuan tea is strictly limited to the last week of March to the second week of April each year, when the tea leaves are the freshest. The picking standard is usually one bud and one or two leaves, so that the quality characteristics of Yuan'an Luyuan tea can be better displayed during the later production process. The production process of Yuan an Luyuan tea is very particular, including multiple links such as fresh leaf picking, fixation, stir-frying twice, piling, sorting, and stir-drying. Among these processes, the important step of ‘stacking’ is responsible for the unique quality of Yuan'an Luyuan tea. The tea leaves are stacked in a bamboo tray, tightly packed, covered with a damp cloth, and left to stand for 5 to 6 hours to promote browning. This step allows the tea to develop a unique aroma and flavour during the later brewing process.

Yuan An Lu Yuan Brewing Method:

When brewing Yuan an Luyuan tea, it is recommended to use a covered bowl as the tea set, and the water temperature should be controlled at around 90°C. Brew using the bottom-pouring method, and place about 1/4 of the tea leaves in the main brewing vessel. Brew for about 5 seconds for the first infusion, and you can brew continuously for 5 times, increasing the brewing time by 10 seconds each time afterwards. The resulting tea broth is light yellow in colour and bright in appearance. The flavour is sweet and fragrant, with a floral undertone. The broth is full-bodied, sweet and refreshing on the palate, and quickly stimulates the production of saliva. The aftertaste is long-lasting.
