Emei Xueya Tea

Emei Xueya (also called Emei Snow Buds) is a green tea grown at altitudes between 800 and 1,200 meters on Mount Emei in China. Emei Snow Buds tea is rich in natural organic nutrients and is a famous green tea in China. The history of Emei Xueya dates back 1400 years to the Tang Dynasty, when tea bush cultivation and tea production on Mount Emei were already quite advanced. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the cultivation and production techniques of Emei Mountain tea became more mature. Emeishan tea not only enjoyed a great reputation in China but also began to be sold overseas and became an important export commodity. Nowadays, Emei Xueya has become one of the most famous teas in China and is well known both at home and abroad.

Emei Xueya Picking and Production:

Emei Xueya is mainly grown in the Emei Mountain area at an altitude of 800 meters to 1,500 meters, especially in the core area of the Great Emei Mountain Tea Golden Park at an altitude of 1,200-1,500 meters. There are tens of thousands of acres of rare Emei Xueya tea gardens, which are located in a vast forest of more than 5,000 kinds of wild plants with a favourable ecological environment. We pick Emei Xueya in April, during the Qingming Festival. The picking standard is one bud and one leaf or one bud and two leaves at the beginning of the spread; the fresh leaves are tender and even, the size is consistent, are used to bake the famous tea. When picking the whole thumb and forefinger belly, force yourself to be clever so as not to break the tea buds or hurt the bud handle, affecting the character of the tea.

The production process of Emei Xueya tea includes many steps such as stacking, fixation, and cooling. The tea buds are first gently dried to allow excess water to evaporate; then air-drying is carried out; the pot temperature and duration of fixation are based on experience; and the internal moisture of the tea leaves should be fully dried to achieve a consistent colour; and finally air-drying is carried out to allow the tea leaves to cool down fully. The whole production process of our Emei Xueya has gone through 34 strict procedures and 69 indexes to ensure the quality of the tea.

Emei Xueya Brewing Methods:

1. Warming the cups: Use a transparent glass cup to observe the brewing process. Rinse and scald the tea utensils with boiling water to remove odours.
2. Put tea leaves into the teapot. Put in about three to four grams of dry tea; the ratio of tea to water is usually 1:50.
3. Water Temperature: Keep the water temperature between 85 and 90 degrees Celsius. Boiling water should not be used to avoid destroying the nutrients in the tea leaves.
4. Brewing: Inject hot water in a high-flush, low-pour manner so that the tea leaves are in even contact with the hot water. There is no need to wash the tea, and the steeping time is about 1 to 2 minutes. Appreciating tea can be done when the tea leaves are stretched out.
5. Appreciating tea: Steep for 1-2 minutes and drink; add water to the remaining one-third of the tea to re-steep.
